How far would they go?

A couple of news caught my eye about the tourism industry. I know times are tough, but how far would they go to attract customers? Is it a ploy to attract customers or simply just to distinguish themselves, make it to the news and gain media attention like a child wanting to be noticed?

I remember Jetstar once got in trouble for using the wrong beach to advertise a destination with their signature 'jump' slogan.

Perhaps what's why we are all so obsessed with 'reviews' - whether it be from a guide book or online. It's no longer safe just looking at the pictures!
