Travellers tricked by rogue website - news.com.au
Since the US government introduced the visa waiver registration program early last year, there has been reports of rogue websites charging travellers money before issuing them a visa waiver.
The program is suppose to be an extra layer of security checks for travellers from visa waiver countries so that the US government can check and stop any potential threats going into the country.
Last year as I was still working as travel agent, a lot of our customers came in the store to ask us if our information for the program is wrong, as on our information leaflet it said the program is free, but they had been charged some money to be registered.
Unknowingly, a lot of people have been charged money to use this website.
If at anytime in the process the website ask you for a credit card number then the suggestion is that you close the window completely, verify the website address with the local embassy and start again.
Once registered your entry is valid for 2 years. So if you are a frequent traveller you don't have to keep going back to register your entry again.
