Travel industry going extremes

I know the times are tough, but really? Do they need to stoop to Richard Branson's level in advertising?

Actually I have noticed many different 'use' of women bodies for airline ads, including the bikini woman painted on an aircraft, to V Australia's 'sexy' ad to this. I mean, it doesn't make me want to fly these airlines, and doesn't really make me really want to trust airlines that needs to advertise like this when I want to fly!
Oh, and because the times are tough, many of the internet based budget airlines are trying to get your cash else where. Last year Virgin started charging for check in luggage allowance for all there domestic routes. Just earlier this month both Virgin and Jetstar have increased their booking fee as well as change fees to get those people who book on impulse during their sales and want to change the dates later.
Many of our clients fell into the Jetstar airfare sale earlier trap and bought themselves one way flights to Tokyo for example, and because they couldn't find a 'sale' seat on the way back, their thoughts were to book it now and worry about it later.
Unfortunately, one way flights with all other airlines usually cost about 2/3 of the return airfare, and those looking to fly to multiple destinations (for example, the dude that bought the one way flight to Tokyo) end up having to either waste a bit more time transitting around different airports or pay a fortune for other one way flights to get to their extra destinations.
When you book on the internet they do usually ask you to pay first, and with all these internet based airlines their airfare changes regularly, from as little as 10 mins when the seats sell out. And because people know this, they tend to act on impulse and most of these internet airfares are non-refundable, they end up losing the whole lot when the dates don't suit or that they need to cancel.
RyanAir, the famous budget airline of Europe, also have recently introduced their fee system to charge clients to print their own tickets, and if they don't have it they charge you more at check in to reprint the tickets. More and more budget airlines are talking about charging extra for extra services, even as far as charging for mid-flight loo visits!
There IS a reason why I always try flying with a full service airline. Less hassel, later.
