A president without global knowledge?

There is no doubt that by travelling and seeing the world you learn a lot more than you would from books. No that I am saying education is useless, but theory education without practice is useless. That's why we forget all the maths formulas at the age of 30.
Anyway, I saw on the news that the vice-possibly-president PALIM have never been overseas and does not really have the global knowledge required to be a president. I wonder if such people should really be in politics? I know this is a travel blog but this is quite a similar topic. I would vote Michael Palin over Sarah Palin for a vice president.
Think about it - those of us who travel mostly get a taste of all cultures and languages. We tolerate those who have different traditions and beliefs and we make friends. Something a leader of a country should do.
You know what I think? (Not that it'll make much of a difference but I'll write it here anyway) - ALL political leaders in the world should have at least a year's travelling experience under their belt. Yep. And not just in their own country or comfort zone. Something different, and at least one of the trips has to be to a third world or a developing country. I think that way we'll have less wars and more cooperation.
Just my 2 cents anyway.
