Australia's hottest destination

Mebourne - is apparently Australia's hottest destination, and that we are heading down to Victoria for holidays more often than the popular Queensland.
How Melbourne became Australia's hottest destination
I do see that trend too - that less people are asking for holidays in Queensland, and are starting to go to other states, and most of them the destination is Melbourne.
Perhaps it's simply cheaper to go? With flights so competitive between Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar and Tiger, it's no wonder people are checking out this alternative!
Why Melbourne?
Well, personally I can think of a couple of options: great shopping, great night life, quirky little alley ways, excellent cuisine choices and a very cosmopolitan city life.
And lots of sightseeing options too. You can hire a car and head down south to Phillip Islands and the Mornington Peninsula, drive round through the Great Ocean Road and if you have some time, through the Grampians all the way to Adelaide. Drive in land and visit places like Dandenong and Daylsford.
But I think the title of Australia's hottest destinations is still debatable. Adelaide is a quaint little city too, and back to Queensland the city of Cairns is the hub of many great sightseeings from the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.
Where do you think Australia's hottest destination should be?
